The power of being kind
Hi everyone! I’m Jon. I know you’re used to hearing from Tyler and Justin most of the time, but I’m part of the crew too. And even though I work mostly behind the curtain, I may show up as an extra for a scene or two every now and then. This first one isn’t even really my story, it’s my wife Jen’s! I hope you enjoy.
You ever see or hear about one of those pay it forward coffee trends? It’s where you pay for the person’s order who comes after you and the hope is they do the same, creating a chain reaction of kindness and connections.
I used to believe there’s no such thing as a free lunch but my wife has, once again, proven me wrong about something.
She was going for lunch at work, to a usual spot. She ordered the same thing, as usual. She chatted to the lady behind the desk, as usual. But something unusual happened when she went to pay — they wouldn’t let her.
“You’re always so friendly to us and we really appreciate it. This meal is on us,” the lady said.
Ok, cynics out there will point out that she has spent money over there over time, but the payment really wasn’t her previous purchases: it was her kindness.
So, yeah, be kind and there and maybe prove to yourself there is such a thing as a free lunch.
